Longmont, Colorado May 19th, 2010 UQM TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (NYSE Amex:UQM), a developer of alternative energy technologies, announced today that it has completed an agreement with Electric Vehicles International LLC (EVI), a California-based electric vehicle company, to supply upgraded UQM® PowerPhase® 150kW electric propulsion systems for use in EVI’s new all-electric medium-duty truck, the EVI MD and the all-electric walk-in van, the EVI WI. The initial term of the supply agreement is one year. Deliveries of the first 50 systems are expected to begin in June and be completed by October 2010.
The EVI MD and EVI WI can be configured to match most commercial needs, with gross vehicle weight ratings of a Class 4 (14,001 lbs) up to a Class 6 (26,000 lbs). Powered by a UQM® PowerPhase® electric propulsion system that delivers 664 ft-lb of torque and using an Eaton 6-speed Ultrashift automatic transmission, the EVI MD and EVI WI have a top speed of 60 miles per hour and a range of up to 115 miles per charge using high-density Valence Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: VLNC) U-Charge® XP lithium iron magnesium phosphate batteries.
